Ervilha Guisada com Galinha e Chouriço 🇵🇹
That’s Portuguese for Stewed Peas with Chicken and Chouriço — a cozy, nostalgic dish full of bold flavour and tradition.
I whipped this up in no time using my Our Place pressure cooker — it seriously did the heavy lifting while I ran errands 🙌🏼. If you don’t already have one, trust me… it’s a game changer! Tap the link in my bio to shop yours and make weeknight meals this easy.
🥚 I didn’t add an egg this time, but this dish is always next-level with a poached or soft-boiled egg stirred in at the end. Highly recommend!
Here’s how I made it:
👩🏻🍳 Start with the sauté function on your Our Place cooker:
• 1 chopped onion
• 4–5 garlic cloves, chopped
• Sauté until fragrant, then add:
• 1 tbsp pimenta moída (or tomato paste)
• 1/2 cup passata (strained tomatoes)
• 1/3 cup white wine
• 2 bay leaves
• 1 tsp paprika
• 1/2 tsp chili powder
• Salt & pepper to taste
• 1 tsp all-purpose seasoning
• A small handful of chopped parsley
🌱 Stir in:
• 1/2 bag of sweet peas (ervilhas) — fresh is best, but frozen works too!
Let it simmer for a few minutes.
• 1 to 1 ½ cups chicken stock (enough to just cover the peas)
Let that simmer for a few minutes to bring the base together.
⚠️ Season your chicken BEFORE cooking with:
• Paprika, salt, pepper, and garlic powder
🔥 In a separate pan, brown:
• 4 thick chicken breasts, cubed or sliced
• 1 chouriço link, sliced (pan-fried until golden for extra depth)
⏱ Add the browned chicken and chouriço to the cooker, mix it all together, and pressure cook for another 5–10 minutes — just enough to bring it all together and deepen the flavours.
A one-pot dish packed with tradition, ready in a flash, and perfect for feeding your people with love 🇵🇹
