If your house is overflowing with Folar or Massa Sovada, don’t toss it—turn it into the dreamiest breakfast or brunch dish ever.🍞✨
Ingredients:
• 1 loaf Folar or Massa Sovada (a day or two old), cut into thick cubes
• 6 large eggs
• 2 cups milk (or oat/almond milk)
• 1/2 cup heavy cream (or more milk)
• 1/3 cup sugar or maple syrup
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1/4 tsp nutmeg
• Zest of 1 lemon (or orange, if that’s your vibe)
• Pinch of salt
• Butter or oil for greasing
Optional Toppings:
• Sliced almonds
• Powdered sugar
• Maple syrup
• Roasted fruit or berries
Instructions:
1. Grease a baking dish (9×13 works great).
2. Layer your bread cubes in the dish.
3. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugar or maple, vanilla, spices, zest, and salt.
4. Pour the custard evenly over the bread. Gently press to help it soak.
5. Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
6. The next morning, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
7. Uncover, top with almonds if using, and bake 40–50 mins until golden and set.
8. Cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar. Drizzle with maple syrup. Serve warm or cold.
