🍝 Viral Dirty Pasta Recipe (Easy One Pot Family Dinner)
This Viral Dirty Pasta Recipe is a hearty one pot pasta dinner made with lean ground beef, colourful peppers, leeks or celery, and pasta simmered in a rich, savoury broth. It’s easy to make, family friendly, and perfect for busy weeknights.
Equipment
- Large Dutch oven or heavy-bottomed pot

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb mild italian sausage (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 chopped onion
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 leek or celery stalk , chopped
- 1 red pepper, diced
- 1 green pepper, diced
- 2 tablespoon tomato paste
- 4 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 cup water if needed
- 1 lb penne pasta or spaghetti
- 1 chopped green onion
- ÂĽ-1/2 shredded cheese cheddar or parmesan
Seasonings
- 1 ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 ½ teaspoon paprika
- 1 ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste optional
Instructions
- Heat a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Add the ground beef and sausage (if using) and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces. Do not drain the grease.
- Add the diced onion, garlic, leeks (or celery) and bell peppers. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in the onion powder, paprika, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Sprinkle the flour over the meat mixture and stir until evenly coated.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring to create a smooth sauce.
- Add the pasti, making sure it’s submerged in the liquid.
- Cover and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring every few minutes, until the pasta is tender.
- If the pasta absorbs too much liquid before it’s fully cooked, stir in up to 1 cup of water as needed.
- Add green onions and cheese if using.
- Taste and adjust seasoning before serving. Garnish with parsley, or red pepper flakes if desired.
Notes
I used leeks, but celery is an excellent substitute if that’s what you have on hand.
